Tonigrams

When Grandma cant do bedtime in person

Our kid will take Grandmas voice over a brand new Tonie. Every time.

I didnt fully get that until we bought him the one he begged for. He loved it for a few days. Then he went right back to asking for Grandma and Dad. The fancy new stuff didnt win. The people did.

FaceTime is great until its not. Wrong time zone. Toddler meltdown. Youre trying to get everyone down and the call turns into chaos.

What he actually asks for is simpler. Put Grandma on the Toniebox and snuggle.

Her voice. Right there. No screen. No hold the phone still. Just the little figure and a story that sounds like love.

How we do it

You set it up once. Connect your Tonies account in Tonigrams. Pick the Creative Tonie for family stories. Then youre done being the tech person.

Then text Grandma the link. Like just text it. She opens it on her phone. No app. No account. No I dont know how to download things.

She taps record and talks. A story from when she was little. The book she always reads. A silly song. Or just I love you sleep tight. Messy is fine.

You approve it. You stay in control. Listen. Smile. Tap yes. Then her voice is on the Toniebox at bedtime.

What to tell Grandma to record

Honestly? Whatever shed say if she was sitting on the bed. When I was your age stories. The book from the shelf. A made up adventure with your kid in it. A lullaby from her childhood.

Tell her she doesnt need to be good at this. Kids care about the voice. Not how fancy it sounds.

Why we made this

This is why Tonigrams exists. Parents stay in control. Grandparents just talk. Your kid gets a Tonie full of voices theyll never forget.

Still figuring out what to put on the blank Tonie? Start there. Or if bedtime is hard because people live far away I wrote about that too.
